Improving Public Land Management: The Collaborative Learning Approach, USDA-Forest Service Eastern and Southern Regions [Regions 9 and 8] University, Cincinnati, Ohio, 29-31 January 2001.  This was a three day course in the theory and practice of Collaborative Learning in public land management, decision making, public participation, and conflict resolution (with Steve Daniels, Director of the Western Rural Development Center, Utah State University, formerly of the Department of Forest Resources, Oregon State University).

People, Watersheds, and River Parks: A Collaborative Learning Design and Facilitation Training, College Station, Texas, June-July 2000.  This project was sponsored and hosted by the Center for Public Leadership Studies, George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A & M University.  Funded by the San Antonio Water System and the San Antonio River Authority, the project included two separate 2-day training programs.  The first, held in June, presented an introduction to Collaborative Learning.  The subsequent July training emphasized how to design and facilitate Collaborative Learning activities (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and Landscape-level Planning Workshop: A Training Program, Cloquet Forestry Center, Cloquet, Minnesota, May 2000.  Sponsored by the University of Minnesota, this project featured a two-day introductory training program on Collaborative Learning (with Keith Blatner, Chair, Department of Natural Resource Sciences, Washington State University).

Community Visioning about Food and Agriculture Policy, Wallace Institute for Alternative Agriculture, Greenbelt, Maryland, October 1997 to November 1999.  In this project I (Walker) helped design and co-facilitate three local and one regional community visioning and action planning workshops in Traverse City MI, Steamboat Springs CO, Santa Rosa CA, and Durnago CO.  The workshop process design was based on Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), Collaborative Learning (CL), and action planning.   I also served as the conflict resolution consultant on the project.

Collaboration and Community-Based Watershed Management: Training and Critique, Ashton, Idaho, April 1999.  This project included an assessment of the Prepared for The Henry's Fork Watershed Council and a one-day training on facilitating multi-party collaboration, sponsored by the Henry's Fork Foundation & the Fremont-Madison Irrigation District (with Steve Daniels).

Public Participation, Collaborative Learning, and the South Deep Area, Colville National Forest, Colville, WA, December 1998 through April 1999.  This project included a two-day "Introduction to Collaborative Learning" training for Colville National Forest staff and Colville area community leaders.  The project also featured a day-long citizen workshop on the South Deep area (with Steve Daniels, and Keith Blatner and Matthew Carroll of Washington State University).

Public Participation, Planning, and the Chugach National Forest,  Anchorage, AK, August 1997 to 1999.  This project included both introductory and basic training programs on Collaborative Learning as a basis for public participation activities and interdisciplinary team work as part of the forest plan revision process.  In addition to training, the project featured the design and facilitation of Collaborative Learning citizen workshops, and situation assessment interviews (with Steve Daniels).

Managing Conflicts and Resolving Disputes: Collaboration and the Progress Triangle, workshop presented to the Extension Annual Conference, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, 16 September 1998, (with Steve Daniels).

Facilitating Multi-Party Dialogue: An Introductory Training, sponsored by the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy, the University of Arizona.  This one day training was part of the CEC Upper San Pedro Initiative Public Participation Process, directed by the Udall Center.  It was presented to the Southeast Arizona Society of Arbitrators and Mediators, Sierra Vista, AZ, 24 July 1998.

Collaboration and the Sierra Nevada Conservation Framework, applied seminar presented to Region 5 United States Department of Agriculture-Forest Service and PSW Experiment Station, Sacramento, CA, 06 July 1998, (with Steve Daniels).

Collaboration, Citizen Involvement, and Watersheds: An Introduction to Collaborative Learning, one-day workshop presented to the Kenai Watershed Forum, Soldotna, AK, 6 April 1998.   In this project (Walker), I interviewed Forum members and citizens in the community about the Kenai Watershed Forum and relevant issues.  I gave a community talk on collaboration and presented a one-day training on Collaborative Learning and local watershed organizations.

Fostering Collaborative Learning Through Systems Thinking and Systems Mapping, workshop presented at the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association Annual Conference, Tucson, AZ, 25 April 1998, (with Janet E. Watts, Executive Director, Mediation Services of Linn County, OR).

Convening, Participation, and Collaborating, an applied seminar presented to the Nature Conservancy-Arizona Chapter, Tucson, AZ, 30 April 1998.

Environmental Policy, Learning-Based Public Participation, and Good Science, presentation for the Kansas Special Commission on Water Quality Standards, Olathe, KS, 29 March 1998.

Collaborative Learning, Citizen Involvement, and Forest Policy: A Facilitator Training, sponsored by the Great Lakes Forestry Alliance and Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc., 18-20 February, 1998.  This project consisted of an introductory workshop, "Natural Resource Land Use Conflict Resolution: Opportunities for Communities," for community leaders.  That workshop was followed by "Collaborative Learning, Involved Citizens, Natural Resource Dependent Communities, and Forest Policy," an advanced facilitator training program connected to the January 1997 workshop on "public participation and land use conflict resolution."   The project also involved facilitation of Collaborative Learning citizen workshops related to forest plan revision (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Stewardship, Planning, and Public Participation: The Collaborative Learning Approach, sponsored by Wallowa-Whitman, Umatilla, and Malheur National Forests, Baker City, OR, 16 and 17 December 1997. This project consisted of a two-day training on Collaborative Learning and assessing situations for their collaborative potential.  Situations addressed include multi-forest collaboration in the forest plan revision process, public participation alternatives, and multi-forest cooperation and the project and data analysis level (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and Marys Peak Recreation Planning, Siuslaw National Forest, Corvallis, OR, September 1997-January 1998.  This project included training senior staff, and designing and facilitating community meetings (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning, Collaborative Stewardship, and Public Affairs, Region 4 of the United States Department of Agriculture-Forest Service, Park City, UT, May, 1997.  This was a one day training program and plenary presentation at the national meeting of public affairs officers (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning: Conflict Management and Systems Thinking in Natural Resource Decision Making, workshop presented in conjunction with the Third Annual Conference on Presidential Rhetoric, Texas A & M University, College Station, TX, 28 February 1997, (with Steve Daniels).

Public Participation and Forest Land Use Conflict Resolution: A Collaborative Learning  Workshop, sponsored by the Lake States Forestry Alliance and The Johnson Foundation, Racine, WI,  January, 1997. This project featured a three day workshop on collaborative learning systems and conflict management strategies and techniques for natural resources leaders from Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.  (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning in Landscape Analysis, Decision Making, and Public Involvement, Petersburg Ranger District, Stikine Area, Tongass National Forest, Petersburg, AK,  October, 1996. This project included two days of interviewing ctizens and Forest Service employees, a four-day training for Forest Service personnel, a community presentation, and designing and facilitating a public meeting (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and Public Participation in Forest Management Decisions,     Clearwater, Nez Perce, and Panhandle National Forests, northern Idaho, April-May, 1996.  This project included an initial workshop for senior staff of the three north Idaho National Forests and a follow-up workshop on systems thinking and forest planning (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning in Landscape Analysis, Planning, and Public Involvement, Bighorn National Forest, Buffalo Ranger District, Buffalo, WY, November, 1995. This project involved training senior staff, and designing and facilitating a community meeting (with Steve Daniels).

Systems Thinking and Watershed Analysis, Salem District of the Bureau of Land Management,  September-October, 1995.  This project included training senior staff and  facilitating a watershed analysis team's synthesis work (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and Fire Recovery Planning, Wenatchee National Forest, Wenatchee, WA, Fall 1994-Winter 1995. This project included training Wenatchee National Forest staff members in the Collaborative Learning planning and  decision making method (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and the Cispus Adaptive Management Area (AMA), Randle Ranger District, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Randle, WA, Winter 1995. This project involved the design of a Collaborative Learning strategy for AMA planning and public involvement.  It  included training Randle Ranger District and Packwood Ranger District personnel in the Collaborative Learning planning and decision making method (with Steve Daniels).

Collaborative Learning and the Oregon Dunes, Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Siuslaw National Forest, Reedsport, OR, Summer 1993.  This project included the design and facilitation of a series of citizen workshops concerning the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area management plan (with Steve Daniels).

UNESCO “Train the Trainer” Shared Waters Training Manual Course Amman, Jordan Dates: 20-25 November, 2011 Twelve water professionals from Jordan, Iraq, and Palestine participated in the second offering of training in shared waters management using the Shared Waters training manual.  

UNESCO “Train the Trainer” Shared Waters Training Manual Course Perugia, Italy, Dates: 20-25 September, 2010 This was the first training in using the Shared Waters training manual was conducted for 10 water professionals from African countries.
